Dr. Streett's book, The Effective Invitation, raises key questions and levels unavoidable challenges regarding what may be arguably the most important and perhaps the most overlooked segment of any sermon: the invitation. The Effective Invitation readily and appropriately acknowledges the Holy Spirit's role in drawing souls to Christ. But Streett doesn't stop there. Through his exposition of the biblical and historical roots of the invitation, Streett convincingly demonstrates that the invitation is much more than an afterthought tacked onto the last of the message. Rather, Streett's apologetic builds a platform from which he espouses thoughtful and provocative observations on how to invite people to Christ effectively. In a very readable style, he offers insights and techniques on how to "draw the net" for anyone who is serious about being a "fisher of men." Streett's evangelistic treatise delivers details, tips and strategies that will aide both the bi-vocational pastor and the pastor with a Ph.D. in dovetailing an effective invitation into the end of a sermon so seamlessly that listeners won't even notice the segue. However, this book is not for pastors only; it will prove useful for lay evangelism leaders and everyday witnesses alike. This book is for any and all Christians who want to remain obedient to the Great Commission and offer to others an effective invitation to Christ.
